Underwater photography of marine life and all sorts of sea creatures is not easy to do right, but when you’re propelled by such a passion as David Doubilet’s, it all becomes a delight – to do and to watch. David Doubilet started out snorkeling and taking pictures, and at a certain point he realized he had to find a way to combine his two passions, without ruining his camera, of course. According to the artist himself, his biggest challenge is to “create a visual voice for the world’s oceans and to connect people to the incredible beauty and silent devastation happening within the invisible world below.” He is, of course, an acknowledged voice in his field, with work featured thus far in National Geographic. His most recent accolade is to have had his work displayed on banners on old oak trees at the Look3 Festival of the Photograph, in Charlottesville, VA.
