NIGHT FLIGHT

Mattias Adolfsson is a freelance illustrator living in Sigtuna, just outside of Stockholm, Sweden. When you first happen upon his phenomenal illustrations your eyeballs practically explode with wonderment and excitement — everything else of his is awesome too. This astoundingly detailed cockpit illustration reminds us of what it was like to be a kid, playing with our Star Wars action figures while pretending to know what it’s like to man the controls of the Millennium Falcon and have a Wookie as our best friend.
The intricacies and details Mattias fills the cockpit of his Night Flight piece with are incredible. The detail in all the different wires, switches and buttons, snaking their way throughout the cockpit, give you a great reason to take a closer look at everything going on. Mattias also takes the opportunity to add playful designs within his artwork: space Invader inspired spaceships, transistor boxes with robot faces, names and random sayings etched into placards, and even a hidden Kermit the Frog figure in there somewhere. Take a look below at the intricate drawing. If you want to see an impressive zoom version go here, and rifle through his sketch books on Issuu here.
Mattias Adolfsson has also just recently released his first personal book, The first in line, from the sketchbooks of Mattias Adolfsson, published by Sanatorium.
Outside of the ship.
With a little color added.
